}}'''Daizaburo Kai''' is a character who first appeared in the manual for ''[[The Silver Case]]'' before appearing in person in ''[[Flower, Sun, and Rain]]''. He is the chairman of the [[TRO]]/[[CCO]] Alliance.

==Appearance and Personality==
Daizaburo has the outward appearance of a professional bureaucrat, but is actually just as immature as his son [[Shoutaro Kai]]. At first, he acts morose but friendly to [[Sumio Mondo]], but when Sumio tries to turn down his request, he immediately launches into criticisms of the game's premise. He doesn't spend a lot of time with Shoutaro, which makes Sumio find him neglectful, but when they are seen together, they get along well.

Daizaburo would seem to have taken over the position of Alliance Chairman after [[Ginji Nakane]] was killed in [[The Silver Case (event)|the Silver Case]] (and possibly after a short term by [[Uminosuke Hachisuka]] as well). In ''Flower, Sun, and Rain'', he seems to be on vacation.

===''Flower, Sun, and Rain''===
Sumio meets Daizaburo in the [[diner]] in [[Request 10: I Love You, Porgy]]. There, [[Mati Sding]] refuses to feed Sumio unless he listens to Daizaburo's problems. Daizaburo is depressed as he is missing his lighter; earlier, he accidentally caused a traffic accident when he dropped his lighter on the road and was looking for it. That lighter was then stolen from him by [[Step Sding]], retrieved by Shoutaro, and then deposited in a trash bin. Daizaburo doesn't tell Sumio the full story, but still missing his lighter, asks him to find it for him. When he brings up his missing object being a present from his son to try and convince Sumio to help, it is revealed that his son is Shoutaro; Sumio calls out Daizaburo for not spending enough time with his kid, and they get into an argument. Sumio tries to leave, but Daizaburo ropes Sumio into completing his request by harassing him with criticism.

When Sumio finds the lighter, Shoutaro takes credit for the task, leading Daizaburo to insult Sumio some more for apparently not completing the request. He also says that his present for Shoutaro took the form of playing with Sumio. Daizaburo and Shoutaro laugh at and berate Sumio together. With his lighter returned, Daizaburo decides to smoke a cigarette, which he lights as the airplane explodes overhead.
