FU is the main antagonist of No More Heroes III.
History[edit]
Backstory[edit]
When he was a larva, FU crash-landed on Earth and was discovered by young boy Damon Riccitiello. They grew extremely close as they constructed a new spaceship to allow FU to be sent back into space, and FU gave Damon some kind of pink energy power through his fingertips. FU was successfully sent home before mysterious Earth government agents were able to get ahold of him. Before he left, he promised Damon that he would return to him in 20 years.

- FU's name is spelled in capitals despite being pronounced "fu"/"foo". This is a reference to the title character in the film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which is also about an alien who lands on Earth and bonds with a young boy. The letters E and T shifted one forward are F and U.
- "FU" sounded out ("eff you") is also a censored way to say "fuck you".
- The concept of shifting letters one forward to create a character in a sci-fi story may itself be a reference to HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey, an AI whose name is widely noted to be similarly shifted forward from that of computer company IBM (although this was a coincidence on the part of the creators of 2001).
