Sakai is a character who appears in Twilight Syndrome: Search. He was an elderly blind man always accompanied by his dog Filasto. The two frequently took walks around Park I at night, he took these walks so regularly a rumor was circulated that he was in fact a ghost.

History

Sakai is first alluded to by Mika Kishii as she is explaining the various rumors surrounding Park I. She mentions him as an eyeless ghost that allegedly chased her brother with inhuman speed, though this is most likely made up. He makes his first physical appearance outside of the women's bathrooms startling Yukari Hasegawa, Mika Kishii and Chisato Itsushima. Yukari demands to know why he is around the women's bathroom and he quickly apologizes saying he was merely following his seeing-eye dog Filastro. Chisato asks him some questions regarding the park. Mika lets loose that they took a photo at the top of the hill near the Torii to which he flies into a rage telling them they shouldn't have done that and demanding that they return home.

A couple nights later Chisato, Mika and Yukari returned to Park I to continue their investigation when a semi truck's gearbox malfunctions and nearly kills the three girls. Chisato falls into the lake but is rescued by Sakai. He tells her the history of shrine that once resided atop the hill. That it was once an execution ground for those that opposed the rule of those in power, their decapitated heads were rolled down the stairs into the lake. A shrine was later erected to quell their spirits. Chisato thanked him for his help and he cryticaly told her "good night".

The following day Chisato sought out Sakai to thank him properly but discovered from his neighbor that he had passed away from illness the previous night revealing that he was in fact a ghost when he saved Chisato. Although Sakai was dead he was still remembered by Mika a year later during the events of Moonlight Syndrome
