|First appearance||Case #4.5 FACE|
Appearance and Personality
Chinami is a kind and caring woman, who acts like an older sister to Sakura. She also has a sarcastic side, and can be seen teasing Sakura Natsume and Minato Sawaguchi. Sakura suspects that she is in a relationship with her chef, although Chinami denies it. Chinami has a mysterious exterior, while in reality she is charming and friendly. She always keeps her make-up pristine, and Sakura has never seen her without it.
Chinami is the owner of a late-night diner in Area C of Ward 24. She is one of only two employees, the other being her middle-aged chef. The diner became popular with people working the graveyard shift, and business began to do well. Six months prior to the events of Case #4.5 FACE, Sakura Natsume moved to the fifth floor of her apartment building, and the two soon became friends.
In October of 1999, she met Sakura briefly as she was leaving for class after sleeping in. A couple days later, she met Minato Sawaguchi, who later visited the diner a few times after Sakura's recommendation. He asked Chinami about Sakura, but she refrained from saying much. Sakura visited the diner ten days after Kana Makino's funeral, and had a meal alongside Minato. Chinami spoke to both of them, and suggested that Sakura get some rest by going on a date with Minato. After Sakura's attack, she began making frequent trips to her apartment to bring her food. She became depressed after having learned Minato was Jack the Ripper, and blamed herself for putting Sakura in danger. After this, the pair remained friends.
